Pair of brass pendants with profile portraits of Louis XVI (b) and Marie Antoinette (a). Portraits are in oval frames adorned by leaves and berries along the top perimeter. Large bows at top are attached to metal loops. Hooks with wings are attached to the bottom of the portrait oval.

Presented to the APS along with the papers of Peyton Rous (APS Library).

Burled veneer presentation box contains illustration of balloon and label marked "Lavoisier medal / l'an 10 / M and B fund." Affixed outside of box is second balloon illustration and French newspaper clipping.

Miniature bronze bust of Georges Cuvier on a pedestal with "CUVIER" etched in the center. This object is similar to another miniature bust in the APS collection (01.C.09) marked "BUFFON."

Miniature bust of Georges-Louis Leclerc, Comte de Buffon. The bust is cast in bronze in two pieces. "BUFFON" is stamped in block letters on the side of the circular base. There are no identifying maker’s marks. This object is similar to another miniature bust in the APS collection (01.C.58) marked "CUVIER".

Plaster head, two to three times life-sized. Cast in left of neck: "a la memoire de/ Georges Cuvier/ P. J. David d'Ange/ 1833." Tag in front of chest: "Baron Georges Cuvier: 1769-1832."

Life-sized, marble portrait bust on low, circular, columnar base. The subject's hair is curled about his ears and tied back with a ribbon. He wears a high-collared, ruffled shirt, a vest, and an open jacket. Incised on proper right shoulder, "Houdon Fecit 1785."

One of two Wedgwood medallions grouped in frame (58.S.78). Ceramic, white on black jasper dip with gold frame. Inscribed on back: "Lafayette" and "WEDGWOOD."

Walnut box contains 397 brass stencils, including four decorative borders and one "Mr. Franklin" name plate. Also included in the box are ten stencils unoriginal to the set. A wooden block with black chalk and three additional pieces of colored chalk were discovered in a side-drawer of the box. The box is marked Marked "BERY/ Faiseur de Caracteres,/ En Cuivre & en aci[e]r. Fait/ Toutes Sortes de Vi[gn]ettes/ Demeure Sur Le Pont Notre Dame/ du même Côté & Près la Pompe/ A Paris" on the interior of the lid.

Obverse: bas-relief portrait of Apollo; "BARRE" and "1828" under portrait. Reverse: altar with columns; "M.D.CC." under altar and "ATHENAEVM LVGDVNENSE RESTITVM" around perimeter. ARGENT stamped on outer rim.

Medal with hole at top, probably to allow to be worn as pendant. Obverse: profile portrait of Marquis de Lafayette a.k.a. Marie-Joseph Paul Yves Roch Gilbert du Motier; "GENERAL LAFAYETTE" around perimeter. Reverse: stylized oak wreath; "THE DEFENDER / OF AMERICAN AND / FRENCH LIBERTY / 1777 - 1824 BORN IN CHAVANIAC / THE 6 SEPTEMBER / 1757" at center.
