Empire mahogany upholstered reclining chair of Roman curule form with rounded X-form profile of opposing scrolls which flair backward slightly along tall back. Arms roll downward into comma-shaped open scrolls which contrast with scroll of seat. X-shaped, curved legs are of square section and end in casters. Medallion is separate from chair, but rests on top. (Murphy D. Smith, "Due Reverence," 1992).

Spanish-style armchair. Rectangular back of leather which is elaborately embossed with heart and tulip devices above an embossed leather seat; all mounted with rosetted-headed tacks. The straight arms are raised on square stiles which pass through the seat and are conjoined by a pierced strecher of chain form. Below is a plain stretcher of square section which is flanked by deeply scalloped lateral stretchers. Possibly from Spanish colonial revival, 1860-1890. (Murphy D. Smith, "Due Reverence," 1992).

Federal Philadelphia Windsor armchair. Slender crest rail raised on seven slender bamboo-turned spindles which are flanked by conforming bold stiles, fitted with conforming arms and supports. They all terminate in a grooved and scooped saddle-shaped seat which is raised on raked bamboo-turned legs and stretchers. The underside of the seat is inscribed: "Mary's seat/ Sept. 4 1865."

English mahogany secretary bookcase in two sections. Key-fret frieze molding and a pair of glabed doors of interlaced heart-and-diamond mullion work encloses the interior of wooden shelves. The lower section has a straight front of four cockbeaded drawers and is hinged to fall outward into a writing board. The interior of the desk houses a row of four small square drawers at each end; the center has a long drawer over three open shelves, flanked by a closed compartment with a plain door. (Murphy D. The upper section originally had a delicately carved and pierced swan's neck pediment with a central-urn finial suspended with swags adjoining the leafy rosette terminals above a central shell-carved plinth (now missing).

Mahogany and glass bookcase, lacking original base. The upper section has a plain cornice molding above a set of four eight-panel glazed doors with Gothic arch top panels, enclosing wooden shelves above a shallow bracket foot of a later date.

Philadelphia-made marble top mahogany sideboard. The slightly overhanging marble top is above a protruding frieze, fitted with a handleless drawer in book-matched veneer of boldly figured crotch mahogany beneath a molded top edge continued along the sides of the case. Raised on freestanding pilasters in the form of Ionic columns, above a conforming veneered platform on massive paw-feet at the front, round legs behind. The columns stand before the recessed back which is hinged with a pair of mirrored doors. The doors were possibly added at a later date, converting what was a probably a pier table to a sideboard. Each chair has a curved and backward-scrolled crest rail inlaid with a plain reserve of highly figured mahogany veneer and raised above a slender slat of opposed S-scrolls, terminating in rosettes and leafage upon a reeded crossbar. The tapered rounded stiles continue along the upholstered slip-seat and slender rail and are raised on plain sabre legs. (Murphy D. Smith, "Due Reverence," 1992).

Rolltop desk and removable bookcase with glass doors. The tambour door with turned wooden pulls slides vertically up the tracked sloping sides, exposing the interior of six small drawers with fruitwood fronts fitted with ivory knob pulls. These small drawers are under seven black-paned pigeonholes. The baize-covered extendable writing surface, which pulls out to 21" deep with three mock drawers behind, is above a cockbeaded wide drawer with turned wooden pulls within three slender case moldings continuing along the sides. These are raised on ringed, slender, tapering, reeded round legs terminating the compressed globous ankles with tall peg feet. The upper section is a low cabinet of twin double-panel glazed doors enclosing an interior of adjustable shelves. (Murphy D. Smith, "Due Reverence," 1992).

Pair of inlaid mahogany folding top gate-leg card tables, possibly of Philadelphia manufacture. Each has a rectangular folding top with inset ovolo corners, inlaid with double-stringed edges and a broad band border above a conformingly shaped apron, inlaid with plain string reserves and slender banded edge, raised on stringed tapering square legs with crossband cuffs. Federal drop-leaf Pembroke table. Single-plank rectangular overhanging top hinged with rounded shallow drop-leaves which can be raised on hinged swing supports, flanking a frieze drawer with a turned wooden pull above a cockbeaded edge molding. The table is raised on tapered reeded round legs which terminate in compressed globous ankles with deep peg-feet and turned at top with deep collars. (Murphy D. Smith, "Due Reverence," 1992).

Philadelphia Classical drop-leaf pedestal table. Rectangular overhanging top, hinged with boldly scalloped shallow drop-leaves which are raised on hinged swing-supports flanking a cockbeaded frieze drawer, with brass pull at each end above cockbeaded edge moldings and protruding corners suspended with stepped ring drops. These rest on an urn-form pedestal raised on molded sabre legs ending in brass paw-feet. (Murphy D. Smith, "Due Reverence," 1992).

Federal drop-leaf Pembroke table. Hinged oval drop-leaf is above drawered bow front and conforming mock-drawer reverse, flanked by light-wood inlaid corners simulating fluting. Square tapered legs have stringed borders and cross-band cuffs. Depicted in "Blue Book, Philadelphia Furniture." (Murphy D. Smith, "Due Reverence," 1992).

American Late Federal table. Has overhanging rectangular top of green Connecticut marble above shaped apron with square corners. Raised on bold ring-turned vasiform legs conjoined by deep stretcher shelf and ending in peg-feet.

1 1/2" cube, inscribed with the letters a and b in various powers.

Buttons in Economy Mailing Bag with 3 cent postage stamp. Label of bag: "Uncle Elisha's buttons / Mrs. Walter Cope Saunderstown RI" Three of 11 are slightly different in design but all have general motif of eagle on anchor. Reverse of three: "Bro & Allien HNY (on reverse)" along perimeter. Reverse of four: "W. H. Horstmann & Sons PHI" along perimeter. Reverse of three: "Robinsons Extra" along perimeter. Reverse of final button has stars along perimeter and "ILT."

Stone cannonball, 7 inches in diameter. Surface is pockmarked.

Board with 32 wooden pieces, 16 unfinished and 16 painted black, housed in original wooden box. Two pawns are later replacements. Pasted on inside of box lid is John Bartram's name. The board, while contemporary, is not original to the pieces.

Folding wood chess board with alternating black and white squares, checked black and white border. Folds in half down the middle. Back covered in red paper and with text in silver: "Chess & Draughts/Manufactured in England." Chess pieces (not original to the board) are 1976.7.

Empire style silk brocade vest.

Gold oval medallion displayed within velvet mount, in a double-sided wood and glass frame. Inscribed on the obverse: "NON DEI LEGES MUTARE SED IN HOMINUM USUM ADHIBERE" in relief around perimeter. "The Premium of John Hyacinth De Magellan OF LONDON / ESTABLISHED IN THE YEAR 1786" in center, inside laurel wreath. Inscribed on the reverse: "PHILADELPHIA PENNSYLVANIENSIS DECEMBER MDCCCLXXXVII" in relief around perimeter. "AWARDED BY THE American Philosophical Society to Louis M. Haupt FOR HIS DISCOVERY IN PHYSICAL HYDROGRAPHY & FOR HIS INVENTION OF A SYSTEM OF HARBOR IMPROVEMENT," in center. Presented along with the papers of Lewis M. Haupt (APS Library).
