Seal with image of well-dressed man introducing an American Indian to Minerva, goddess of learning. Indian wears a quiver of arrows and his head-dress appears to be a crest or pom-pom. Minerva wears her traditional helmet, holds a spear, and has a shield. At her feet are a telescope, globe, quadrant, and several open books. Beneath the figures appear the Society's motto "Nullo Discrimine." and its founding date "MDCCLXIX." Around the image are the words "The Seal of the Americ. Philos. Society held at Philad." With the copper embossing cut are an impression and a reproduction.
