Abstract: | This manuscript, entitled "An account of my journey to the Seneca Nation of Indians, and residence amongst that people," was compiled by Halliday Jackson, a Quaker missionary, during his yearlong residence with the Seneca Nation in New York. Jackson's chronicle is well-written, detailed, and often fascinating. It includes descriptions of daily life, weather, customs, and minutes of councils. A similar version was edited by Anthony F.C. Wallace and published in Pennsylvania History in 1952. View finding aid for a full description | ||
