Pin is attached to plaid ribbon. Housed in original box. Outside of box: "Souvenir of the Dedication of the Carnegie Institute Pittsburgh April 11, 1907"; inside: "Designed and Made by J.E. CALDWELL & CO. Jewelers and Silversmiths Philadelphia." Medal is decorated with bas-relief of building, two seals, and stars. "CARNEGIE INSTITUTE DEDICATION PITTSBURGH APRIL - 11 - 1907" at bottom of pin.

Pin is attached to red ribbon. Long rod on back for affixing to clothing. Decorated with various scientific symbols and instruments. "1884" at top and "Philadelphia" at bottom.

Obverse: laurel wreath encircles "XIII International Physiological Congress" with raised rectangle at center bearing "363" in black. Reverse: "Boston 1929" and "The Robbins Co. Attleboro Mass."
