 Abstract:  Printed in Hazard's Register, this essay recounts the history of the Walking Purchase. It focuses less on the walk itself, and more on the historical origins of the walk and the subsequent disillusionment of the Delaware, including accounts of treaties. At the back of the document, John Watson includes a letter that recounts the recollections of the Walk by Moses Marshall, whose father was one of those who made the walk. This letter contains details on the actual walk itself.

 Abstract:  This collection contains the proofs of images for Historical Collections of the State of Pennsylvania. The book is over 700 pages long with more than 200 images. The book and images capture Pennsylvania life past and present and can provide insight into the customs of the period. Days' engravings provide detailed images of towns and areas of Pennsylvania circa 1840. Some of the over 250 images included in this collection are: Pittsburgh with steamboats traveling up the rivers and smoke spouting in the sky from factories, a redoubt at Fort Pitt, a vista of Reading, mines in western Pennsylvania, Native American engravings found on a rock, the public squares at Chambersburg, Lancaster and Erie, and Ephrata's houses.

 Abstract:  This large volume contains a wealth of data on Pennsylvania history beginning in 1737 and ending in 1775. Documents include letters, orders, and treaty minutes relating to Pennsylvania's military and political history. Although much of the material relates to the Seven Years' War, there are also documents relating to the Maryland-Pennsylvania border dispute, impressments of sailors, the founding of the Pennsylvania hospital, and other aspects of the political history of the colony. The bulk of the material deals with military, diplomatic, and political issues. Most of the documents have been printed in either the Pennsylvania Archives or Hazard's Register.

 Abstract:  These volumes contain an assortment of documents relating to colonial Pennsylvania's relations with Indian groups. Most notably, the collection contains journals and treaty minutes from the Seven Years' War, including a journal by Conrad Weiser, a manuscript version of Charles Thomson's "Enquiry into the Alienation," and official government records from the war. There are other documents that do not bear directly on Indian affairs. Most notably, there is a manuscript essay by Lewis Evans on German immigration that details the often brutal experience of immigrants' journey to Pennsylvania and proposes a series of reforms. There is also a printed essay in the back of the volume that opposes capital punishment and was printed in Philadelphia in 1792.

 Abstract:  The collection contains miscellaneous papers from this prominent Pennsylvania family. Some of the material is in German. Included in the collection are diplomas and various certificates of family members, including Peter Muhlenberg's original certificate of membership in the Society of the Cincinnati. There is a significant amount of correspondence from Christian Dencke to the Muhlenbergs in 1798-1799, a period when he was setting up a mission to Indians in Ontario. The letters, in German and Latin, seem to discuss natural history.
