The second volume is a handwritten account of Breck at 92 years old reminiscing on prominent APS members he had met.

The Carpenters' Company was one of the most prominent trade associations in colonial Philadelphia and the early national period. The collection includes official minutes of the Carpenter's Company for nearly all of early America. These volumes capture the inner workings of one of the most prominent business institutions in the city. The minute books capture a wide range of company business, including establishing prices for the public, member procedures, and public relations. The collection also includes the minutes of the Friendship Company from its founding in 1769 – 1775 and their accounts from 1769-1799.

| | | | Dates: | Circa 1650-1900 | | | | Abstract: | This collection consists of an assortment of documents relating to the Montgomery Family that settled in New Jersey around 1701. The documents include items from the 1680s written in England relating to property in New Jersey, a series of letters from the eighteenth century, and a couple of letters from the revolutionary era. The correspondence deals with a range of issues, including trade and business, but they are more often family letters. John Burnett and John and Anna Forbes are the most frequent correspondents. The letters are written variously from Aberdeen, Scotland, Perth Amboy, and even some from Barbados. The remaining collection deals with genealogical material, much of which was written in the nineteenth century, although some was also done in the eighteenth century.

| | | | Dates: | 1745-1822 | | | | Abstract: | This collection consists of a range of materials related to the business history of David Hall, printer. The collection contains four outgoing letter books of David Hall to business correspondents (Xeroxed from a private collection), account books for the shop (Xeroxed from a private collection), and incoming correspondence, primarily from William Strahan (mostly originals). Hall's letter and account books provide a clear record of the print shop's business. The correspondence of William Strahan, which is the only original manuscript portion of the collection at the APS, is often long and detailed. The letters from Strahan touch on matters relating to family and friends, business, and politics. Strahan's letters occasionally discuss his business dealings in other colonies, and mention other printers such as James Rivington. Strahan almost always ends by giving Hall accounts of politics in London, which may have been used to disseminate news in the PA Gazette. These accounts also provide insight into the perceptions and beliefs of a prominent Londoner during the imperial crisis.

| | | | Dates: | 1889-1912 | | | | Abstract: | John Bohlen was a prominent Philadelphia merchant in the nineteenth century, dying a millionaire. Bohlen, a Hollander, established a firm with his brother that specialized in trade with his native country. His greatest success came in the lucrative gin trade. As his business increased, so too did his connections. He served on the Board of the first Bank of the United States and was well-connected with highest the political and business leaders in the nation. Although John Bohlen was a prominent and successful businessman, these documents have little bearing on Bohlen himself. Instead, they are a series of letters (ten total) written by prominent Americans either to Bohlen or to his relatives.

Cadwalader wrote to Samuel Meredith, a politician and fellow Revolutionary War soldier, concerning the war, his real estate holdings in Philadelphia, and the local political climate. The seven items are dated from October 5, 1779 to March 9, 1798, during which Cadwalader served in the military, reentered politics, got married, and then retired from public service.
