 Abstract:  This collection of seven volumes contains the minutes of various treaties the colony of Pennsylvania conducted with Native peoples. Some of these reports go beyond the minutes of the treaties and contain details about the governor's entourage and travel. The volume that contains minutes for Indian treaties from 1758-1760 contains George Croghan's journal from a trip to western areas in 1759. The Treaty of Easton (970.5 M659) contains a sketch of the land Teedyschung requested, a drawing that often has not been reproduced in accounts of the treaty minutes.

 Abstract:  This collection of William Penn's miscellaneous documents and letters largely consists of material relating to the early settlement of Philadelphia and Pennsylvania. There are also records that relate to William Penn's interests in the Jerseys. Most documents are from before 1710, although some do come after and some appear to be manuscript copies of older documents. Most of the documents are signed by or addressed to William Penn and have been published in various publications from the Historical Society of Pennsylvania and in the Papers of William Penn.

 Abstract:  This large volume contains a wealth of data on Pennsylvania history beginning in 1737 and ending in 1775. Documents include letters, orders, and treaty minutes relating to Pennsylvania's military and political history. Although much of the material relates to the Seven Years' War, there are also documents relating to the Maryland-Pennsylvania border dispute, impressments of sailors, the founding of the Pennsylvania hospital, and other aspects of the political history of the colony. The bulk of the material deals with military, diplomatic, and political issues. Most of the documents have been printed in either the Pennsylvania Archives or Hazard's Register.

 Abstract:  These volumes contain an assortment of documents relating to colonial Pennsylvania's relations with Indian groups. Most notably, the collection contains journals and treaty minutes from the Seven Years' War, including a journal by Conrad Weiser, a manuscript version of Charles Thomson's "Enquiry into the Alienation," and official government records from the war. There are other documents that do not bear directly on Indian affairs. Most notably, there is a manuscript essay by Lewis Evans on German immigration that details the often brutal experience of immigrants' journey to Pennsylvania and proposes a series of reforms. There is also a printed essay in the back of the volume that opposes capital punishment and was printed in Philadelphia in 1792.

 Abstract:  Timothy Horsfield was a prominent official in Northampton County in Pennsylvania during the Seven Years' War and its aftermath. This relatively small collection contains a wealth of information on the war. The letters are content rich and often relay details on society and life in the area.  Abstract:  This Thomas and Richard Penn Collection contains a range of correspondence from the proprietors of Pennsylvania, Thomas and Richard Penn (especially Thomas, the chief proprietor), to their agents in Pennsylvania, especially James Hamilton, who served as governor in the 1750s. The Collection begins in the 1740s, spans the Seven Years' War, and ends in the midst of the imperial crisis. Because of the time period covered, the letters touch on many important matters regarding the militarization of Pennsylvania, political battles within the colony, and the crisis brought about by imperial consolidation in the 1760s.

 Abstract:  This collection is one of the largest early American collections the APS holds. Its breadth of sources provides insight into colonial Pennsylvania history, especially that of Lancaster County. Although largely material composed of material from James Burd, there are also significant documents relating to the Shippen family. Documents touch on matters financial, political, and social. While the collection is of wide ranging material, its strength lies in three main parts: the Seven Years' War and Pontiac's Rebellion in Pennsylvania, Burd's business records, and life in Lancaster County from 1754-1776.
