	Abstract:	The Cassin Collection is heavily focused on Charles Luke Cassin's correspondence in the late nineteenth century. Charles Cassin was a physician in the U.S. Navy in the late-nineteenth century. His family's roots date to the colonial era. There are approximately seven documents from the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, however. This portion of the collection includes three legal documents from colonial Pennsylvania that were likely handed down through the family: one is a will for Aaron Thompson dated 1745, another is an indenture from 1758, and another is a copy of a court decision in Berks County in 1774. There are two letters from James Mullins to Eliza Cassin relating to their past affairs and children. Finally, there are official documents relating to Joseph Cassin, Charles Luke's father, including a commission in the U.S. Navy signed by James Madison. View finding aid for a full description

	Abstract:	The Nathanael Greene Collection is a large collection of correspondence primarily related to supplying the Continental Army. The bulk of the correspondence dates from 1778-1780, during which time Greene served as Quartermaster General of the Continental Army. The correspondence captures the supply issues that the Army faced during the war, and the means of financing and supplying it. Because the bulk of the collection is correspondence and not account or ledger books, the letters to Greene from the field often provide interesting details and anecdotes on requisitioning. 	Abstract:	The Ebenezer Hazard Collection contains a range of documents relating to the early history and establishment of the postal service in the new American nation. Ebenezer Hazard was a New Yorker who served as a deputy postmaster general during the American Revolution and early republic.Included in the collection are two letters from Benjamin Franklin, one appointing him to the post and another advising him to quickly establish a post to Albany. There are a series of military passes issued to Hazard, lending insight into how the postal service operated during the war years. Other correspondents include Thomas Jefferson, who wrote a letter to Hazard in 1775 endorsing a proposed public papers project, and George Washington, who corresponded with Hazard as General of the Army during the war and as President. 	Abstract:	The John Le Conte Papers contain a range of correspondence, most of which deals with discussions of natural history. Le Conte was a scientist whose interests were in natural history, especially entomology. Le Conte worked at the United States Army Corp of Topographical Engineers, and his correspondence relating to their surveys provide details on the state of eastern seaports and harbors in the mid-eighteenth century. Most of the correspondence is incoming and it is often either orders from superiors to Le Conte or field reports from subordinates to LeConte. 	Abstract:	This large volume contains a wealth of data on Pennsylvania history beginning in 1737 and ending in 1775. Documents include letters, orders, and treaty minutes relating to Pennsylvania's military and political history. Although much of the material relates to the Seven Years' War, there are also documents relating to the Maryland-Pennsylvania border dispute, impressments of sailors, the founding of the Pennsylvania hospital, and other aspects of the political history of the colony. The bulk of the material deals with military, diplomatic, and political issues. Most of the documents have been printed in either the Pennsylvania Archives or Hazard's Register. The collection has a notable number of items relating to George Washington and his family, including a deed from 1604 to Laurence Washington that contains an original seal from James I.
