Abstract

This correspondence refers to his trips to Baffin Island (N.W.T.) and British Columbia, during which he studied and collected materials on Northwest Coast languages among the Eskimos.

Background note

American anthropologist Franz Boas studied the Eskimo and Northwest Coast Indians and held positions at Columbia University and the American Museum of Natural History.
