These papers are chiefly personal and family correspondence. There are also typed copies of family letters transcribed by Eliza Leiper Woolford Jones.

Background note

Thomas Leiper Patterson was a Maryland lawyer and engineer; he was elected to the American Philosophical Society in 1853.
