First three volumes are composed of entries from Philadelphia directories prior to 1800. An "F" preceding an entry means an advertisement for the person was found in a contemporary Philadelphia newspaper. The fourth volume is an alphabetical listing of all directory entries in TWO entirely separate alphabetical listings. The fifth volume contains entries taken from the file of advertisements published in newspapers of Philadelphia, Baltimore, Charleston, New York and Boston, prior to 1801, compiled by Alfred Coxe Prime for his work, Arts and Crafts in Phila...Walpole Society, 1929-1932.
