Abstract

1 reel. Papers of Henry Dearborn, Secretary of War and commander of the U.S. Army during the War of 1812. Dearborn's journal, kept from 17 June - 18 Oct. describes the Sullivan Campaign of 1779. Poems, probably written by his daughter, Sophia, follow his journal entries. Letters from Thomas Jefferson concern Indian jurisdiction and negotiations for the Louisiana Purchase. Originals are in the Massachusetts Historical Society.
