These are a series of numbered letters written by Joseph de Charrier de Lescale de Verone (great, great grandson of Julius Ceasar Scaliger) in support of his claims to the Lescale name. According to Vernon Hall Jr in his essay, The Scaliger Family Papers, these claims fell into three broad categories: (1) that he had borne arms for the King and recieved a commission in the regiment of Candal and that further his father too had borne arms in the armies of the king; (2) that the house of Lescale de Verone decended from the Princes of Verona; (3) that he had the right to the name of Lescale for he legally recieved it through his father from his grandmother, Anne de Lescale. As Vernon Hall Jr. writes in his essay, The Scaliger Family Papers, "This is a series of letters which passed between the last of the true Scaligers, Mlle Victoire de Vérone and Monsieur and Madame Poizat of the illegitimate branch. These letters tell the story of the transfer of documents to the hands of the Poizats, Mlle Victoire's pathetic appeals for financial aid, and the history of the Poizats' efforts through the Count de Magne of the College of Heralds to obtain recognition of their pretentions."

Count de Magne was a member of Collége Héraldique de France and all of the letters are written on its letterhead. This correspondence records Jean Robert Poizat's attempts to have the College of Heralds recognize his relation to the Scaliger family. There are a few letters within this collection from the Marquis de Magne, Collége Héraldique et Archéologisque de France but the members of the board are almost the same as that of the Collége Héraldique de France and the letterhead is similar so it is most likely the same person or closely connected to the Count de Magne.

This document was paired in the same original folder as "Lescalle de Verone, Julles Cezar de- document" dated 1699 September 16. This doument is one sheet of paper folded in half with a paragraph written on the front and signatures at the bottom. The text of this document begins with the date but then notes that it was created at the request of noble Joseph de Lescal de Vérone, Captain of the infantry at Candale.

This document was paired in the same original folder as "Exploit de signiffication fait a les consuls dágen le 14 fevrier 1684" from 1684 February 14. On the front is a stamp with the word "intandant" on it and the first sentance clarifies, "intandant de justice police et finances"

There are seven individual pieces of paper. One is labeled "Election d'Agen" and several of the others have "recu" written at the top. The handwriting on each of the sheets varies and some are dated from around 1700 but not all.

This is a collection of eight photographs taken of original documents created from 1765 April 8 to 1825 June 3. The handwriting is, at times, difficult to read but the documents seem to relate most directly to Mademoiselle Victoire de Vérone and her immediate family, including her mother and her inheritance in Santo Domingo.  These documents were grouped in the same original folder as "Documents relating to the slaves belonging to the Lescale de Verone family- copies"

This document is a small sheet of paper with a short paragraph or block text written on it. The first line mentions "Julle de Lescale." The handwriting seems most similar to the earlier manuscripts and looks like "Document 6."

There is a note on the back, which seems to read, "a quit par lequel fait foy du rachat de la rante de ma grant maison a la porte a georga." The document also begins with the name Francois.

This document begins by mentioning the de Bern family from Italy. The years 1259 and 1371 are mentioned as well as the "famille noble de Verone", Scaligeros, and members of the de Scala family. This document could be forming connections between the Scaliger family and their predecessors in Italy.

This document begins by naming noble Joseph de Lescale and "son plainte." Without a date it is difficult to know which Joseph de Lescale the document references. It also mentions other members of the Scaliger family including Julius Caesar de Lescale. It is signed Joseph de Lascale.

This document is addressed "A Monsieur le Saneschal d'Agennois d'ascoigne...pour le Roy..." There are two paragraphs (perhaps two different messages) written on this same sheet of paper in two different ink colors and two different handwriting.

There are two different paragraphs written on the same piece of paper. While the handwriting looks the same the second paragraph is in a slightly lighter color ink. Agen is mentioned.

The document begins with "la partie de Joseph de Lescalle escuyer..." and also mentions Anne de Lescalle, his mother daughter of Julius Caesar de Lescalle, as well as the will of Julius Caesar de Lescale. It is a small booklet of fourteen sheets of paper tied together with string. Some passages of the text are underlined and there are numbers written in the margins.

This document is written in Latin on parchment and at one time had a seal attached to it. It mentions, in bold, Sylvium Cesarem Schaligerum, which could be a reference to Sylvius, Julius Caesar Scaliger's first son. It looks very similar to "Document 13." See also, "Document 13"
