Abstract

This volume is the account book of a Philadelphia machine shop ("screws, taps and dies") operated by Winner and N. Barrows, which made such items as bolts, iron rods, pins, and rivets. Also included are charges and time requirements for the work done.

James Winner was a Philadelphia machinist.

General note

In the same volume, but unrelated to machine shop business, are accounts (1863-1864) of an unknown person, and drawings of ocean liners and steamships (ca. 1900).

This daybook for the firm Winner and Barrows records the sales for this Philadelphia-based machinist shop. The volume also contains information on production, such as the time certain orders took to complete and subsequent charges. There are some interesting ship designs from the early 1900s in the back of the book.
