Background note

The Joint Committee for a Survey of Sources was established by the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in Boston and the American Philosophical Society in Philadelphia. Their efforts produced the publication "Archival Sources for the History of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology: a Reference Guide and Report", David Bearman and John T. Edsall, eds. (Ann Arbor: University Microfilms International, 1980).
