This volume contains signed receipts for Wayne's payment, in money or kind, of debts, taxes, land, and commodities. Contains also prescriptions for curing certain diseases, and receipt for six warrants, Sept. 1, 1786, paid by order of B.Franklin.

These accounts include ledgers (1750-1763), daybook (1758-1761), miscellaneous receipts, and James Franklin's estate papers.

These papers include correspondence to Sabine, and miscellaneous accounts, receipts, and military records.

Physician John Wakefield Francis (1789-1861) cofounded the New York Academy of Medicine. He served as the second president of the Academy, taught at Bellevue Hospital, wrote medical texts, and edited professional journals. Collection consists of correspondence, financial papers, writings, by-laws and minutes, and related papers of Francis and others. Correspondence of others include letters to Francis's associates and family members. Financial documents, 1798-1851, are accounts, receipts, receipt books, checks, and collection notices. Writings are speeches, lectures and notes of Francis and others. Also, minutes and by-laws, 1807-1810, of the Medical and Surgical Society of the University of New York State; and printed material.

Passports, 1827, membership certificates, receipts, family letters, and 20 letters to La Roche from Thomas Dunn and Ayres Phillips Merrill on scientific, medical, and personal topics.

This volume records payments principally by John Hart, treasurer of Bucks County, Pa., of taxes, such as militia fines, forfeited debts, supplies, monthly taxes, second-class tax, and excise taxes.

These are receipts from tradesmen, mechanics, and storekeepers for sewing, carriage work, the making and repair of shoes, madeira, fabrics, sugar, hair-dressing, and clothing.

This volume contains copies of depositions sworn before Peter Miller, letters of attorney, bonds, receipts, bills of sale, and contracts of marriage, etc. There is an index of names, which lists, among many others, George Glentworth, John Kearsley, Reese Meredith, Frederick Phile, and James Ralph. This account book contains receipts and expenditures for the Flying Camp (1783), and business accounts for purchases of bread and candles, and for expenses of traveling and lodging (1785-1800).

The first volume is minutes of the commissioners for determining the line between Pennsylvania and Maryland, which was copied by George M. Justine in 1842 from an "authenticated" copy owned by Ferdinand R. Hassler. The second volume contains receipts (62 items) for money spent by the Penn family for the survey.

The material in this collection is primarily the receipts for books, clothes, passages, a rhinoceros, etc., while he was in Calcutta. There is also a small volume (approximately 50 pages), a duplicate receipt book which he kept as the Consul for the U.S. in Vera Cruz, Mexico.

This collection contains material relating to his legal affairs, medical publications, receipts for books purchased, and information on botany. Important correspondents include Edward H. Clarke, George Mifflin Dallas, Samuel David Gross, and Joseph Henry. There is also family history in these papers.

This volume includes receipts for payments of taxes, ground rents, rents, judgements, bills of exchange, and settlements of estates. Some are for monies collected for the American Philosophical Society, and for Major Zebulon Pike's expedition (1811). The names of Samuel Breck, James Mease, Robert Millegan, and John Vaughan appear. Under date of Feb. 11, 1804 is receipt signed by Jn. Vaughan for admission fee to the American Philosophical Society.

These papers include letters from relatives, friends, and former students, chiefly on family affairs, social events, and schools in Maine, Massachusetts, and Connecticut. Also included are receipts for personal expenditures, and letters of recommendation for teaching positions and from J. P. Lesley for admission to Yale College, where Moore received the Ph.B. degree in 1855. Moore was Lesley's assistant in preparing the Pennsylvania Railroad maps of western Pennsylvania.

There are also more contemporary records on deposit (1952-1980s), relating to all aspects of the Company's activities (with restrictions on the use of some of this material).

These are primarily letters, with some receipts for medical services rendered included. They relate to the general social and intellectural life of Philadelphia and to publications on medical topics. Many of the letters are introductions to Europeans when Pennock first visited there. Letters dated post-1867 are to relatives and colleagues (?).

These selections include letters, bills, accounts, receipts, memoranda, and official communications and documents relating to the Iroquois in New York state, selected from volumes 6-15 of O'Reilly's collections, "Mementos of western settlement," together with copies of documents from the American State Papers, etc. Included are letters of Phelps, Gorham, Chapin, Brant, Kirkland, Knox, Pickering, Irvine, and Morris. Many manuscripts appear to be from the papers of General Israel Chapin, an Indian agent.

These letters and papers include a memorandum book (1795-1827), lectures on botany and medicine, genealogical materials, committee reports from Columbia College, speeches, minutes of the New York Horticultural Society (1822-1828), letters to Sir James Edward Smith (1817-1826), a receipt book of Alexander Hosack (1781-1801), and diaries of Thomas K. Wharton (1830-1862).

This collection is primarily correspondence, accounts, bills, and receipts of Anthony Morris, but also included is older material on the Morris family (deeds, indentures, etc.). The correspondence centers on two major topics: the settlement of the estate of a Baron de Kalb, and information concerning Morris' proposal to set up the Fellenberg Institution for agricultural education, on his estate at Bolton Farm in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.

A collection of letters, legal papers and financial records of three generations of the prominent Philadelphia family. Spanning 1745-1955, detailed are the legal cases and political advocacy work of John Kintzing Kane (1795-1858), Robert Patterson Kane (1827-1906), and Francis Fisher Kane (1866-1955). Also includes correspondence, architectural drawings, and photograph albums of the Cope family. Robert Patterson Kane's daughter Eliza Middleton Kane (1863-1952) married the Philadelphia architect Walter Cope (1860-1902) in 1893. The APS papers of Elisha Kent Kane are in call no. B K132.
