Frederick managed to escape while Dorothea was taken captive along with their children, Frederick Jr. and Emma. Paul generously donated to the fund for markers for the settlers who went through such trying times in 1862 in Birch Coolie, Beaver Falls and Flora Townships. They were dedicated in 2012, 2013 and 2014." Includes bibliographical references and index (pages 64-66).
