Printed using several different typesettings. Signed in type with the names of 24 local young men. The young men of Germantown planned to participate in the upcoming funeral solemnities honoring recently deceased President William Henry Harrison. This document is signed in type by 24 young men of Germantown. Their names and future occupations are: Alfred W. Green, born c. 1823, Philadelphia physician, during the Civil War was appointed by the governor as Surgeon of the 36th Regiment (7th Res.), a position he held until January 18, 1863, at which time he resigned and was appointed Assistant Surgeon-General stationed at Washington; William R. Coulston, born c. 1824, machinist in Manayunk Upper Ward, Philadelphia County; Alfred Slocum, born c.1823. Philadelphia physician; Henry S. Ash, born c. 1825, Philadelphia druggist; John Stoever, born 1824, paymaster at Illinois during the Civil War; J. Richard Groff, probably the Philadelphia Jeweler born c.1817; Samuel R. Bockius, born c.1826, tailor, apparel and accessories stores; John J. Crout, born c.1822, coal dealer; Albert Collom, born c.1820, machinist; George Shingle, born c.1820, stone mason; James Ford, born c. 1822, construction; Peter B. Fraley, born c.1820, machinist, saw and tool maker, eventually bought out dozens of manufacturers and retired after achieving his wealth, later was an alderman in West Philadelphia; Charles J. Wister, born c. 1824, farmer; Charles Stadelman, born c.1825, moulder; Casper Guyer, born. c.1823, shoemaker; Jabez Gates, born c.1826, retail grocer. Other names: David Bender, Harvey M. Phillips, John Schaeffer, Jr., Charles Reger, Edward G. Ashmead, William Kay, Anthony Johnson, and John Stoever. The owner of the meeting place, Jacob S. Wunder [1788-1858], was an early Germantown settler whose popular hotel was used as headquarters for prominent government officials. He was the father of Reuben Wunder who served over forty years with the U.S. Custom House as an inspector.
