Illustrations include vignettes of groups of people sitting at the edge of a city (top) and allegorical picture of Justice looking down on medallion portrait of George Washington overlaid on top of eagle (bottom) On verso: Printed: "For value received, the Pennsylvania Railroad hereby..."; signed "[G.C. Sattes Lou], President". Signatures partially cut out. "No. [407]". Signed 'Seth Smith', Treasurer; 'Geo. W. [Dorrance]', President on bottom margin.

"This certifies that there is due to Mrs. Rebecca Schott by the City of Philadelphia One Thousand Dollars with interest at the rate of six per centum per annum... before the first day of January 1882..." The date of 1882 is handwritten reflecting usage rather than possible publication. Decorated with many vignettes surrounding text.
