This collection consists of two manuscripts volumes containing vocabularies from numerous Indigenous languages primarily from what is now Washington, Idaho, Oregon, British Columbia, and Alaska, as well as some from the Great Lakes and central Canada, obtained by dictation from native speakers and traders of the Hudson's Bay Company.

Okanagan Salish stories with English translations; free conversation on dialectical variations in Okanagan and borrowing from French and English; elicitation sessions covering animal names, fish names, body parts, and words containing fricatives; Catholic hymns in Okanagan and Chinook. Recorded in Penticton, Spectacle Lake, and head of Okanagan Lake, British Columbia, in 1961, 1966, and 1971.

The Daythal L. Kendall papers consist of a wide variety of published and unpublished work on especially Takelma, Kalapuyan languages, and Lencan languages. A linguist and computer scientist, Kendall devoted much time to synchronic and diachronic linguistics of Takelma and the Penutian stock, including much research on Takelma poetic forms, Kalapuyan morphology and gathering a large unpublished lexicon for Lencan languages. He also produced pedagogical materials for learning Canadian Aboriginal syllabics, and worked twice for the American Philosophical Society to develop their understanding of their Native American collections. In the papers are correspondence, extensive research and manuscripts on the above, collected materials from others including many handouts from conferences (particularly the Society for the Study of the Indigenous Languages of the Americas), lexical slips, and photographs of Native Oregonians and their land.

Tlingit recordings made in Yakutat, Alaska (Tapes 1-7); Ahtna recordings made at Chitina, Tazlina, and Chistochina (Tape 8 - Tape 10, track 22); Southern Tutchone recordings made at Klukshu, Yukon Territory (Tape 10, tracks 23-31). Includes personal songs, mourning songs, drinking songs, love songs, shaman songs, and children's songs. Collections formerly titled "Tlingit and Yakutat songs." Renamed in October 2019 to clarify presence of recordings from other communities.
