Statement of dedication at upper left:To the worthey William Penn Esq., Proprietor of Pennsilvania in America, this map is humbly dedicated by Iohn Thornton & Robert Greene. Hand col. in pink watercolor to emphasize the map border; the map content is not colored. Originally printed on 6 sheets assembled to form 1 large sheet; the large assembled sheet later framed. Includes inset of "The city of Philadelphia" and Penn coat-of-arms. Scale: "4 English mi. or 32 furlongs" Scale: 1:63,360 From Seth Kaller: "Philip Burden identifies two states of the map; this is state two. State one survives in a single example at the British Library, believed to be the copy given to William Penn. It has Neshaminy Creek flowing above the letters “KS COUN” in the name “Bucks County”. Copies of the second state are at the Historical Society of Pennsylvania, Winterthur, and Library of Congress (altered to show with the creek flowing below the letters “S C” in the county’s name). "
