MUSEUM OBJECT
Title:
Mountain Balm
Alt. Title:
Ceanothus velutinus
Creator:
Collected by:Meriwether Lewis & William Clark
Dates:
ca. 1805
Abstract:
The Lewis and Clark sheet is without a date and according to label data the specimen was found on the "waters of the Kooskooskie." Given the state of the fragment, and a general lack of information, we believe the collection was made in the fall of 1805. If true then most likely the plant was found somewhere along the Clearwater River in late September or early October (Moulton, 1988).
