Abstract:  

Meehan (1898: 20) lists PH-LC 61, collected 26 Mar 1806, as Montia parviflora (Douglas ex Hook.) Howell (in Erythea 1: 38. 1893), correctly noting that this is a "very poor and indefinite specimen." Coues (1898: 295), who lists the species as Claytonia perfoliata (see No. 51 below), says Lewis obtained the leaf on the "lower Columbia, above Puget's Island and below the Cowlitz River." Neither explorer mentions the species (Moulton, 1991: 15-17).
