Late-Victorian caned walnut settee. Crescent-shaped open domical crestrail, centered with an incised tablet surmounted with a bar-form crest. The crest is above a caned back-panel shaped to bottom above a three-way bulbous stretcher conjoining the fluted square stiles. The grooved arms with scrolled handholds are raised on shaped supports on a caned seat with bowed front above ringed and tapered turned round legs, conjoined by flat single front-stretchers and double plain round side-stretchers. Pin is attached to plaid ribbon. Housed in original box. Outside of box: "Souvenir of the Dedication of the Carnegie Institute Pittsburgh April 11, 1907"; inside: "Designed and Made by J.E. CALDWELL & CO. Jewelers and Silversmiths Philadelphia." Medal is decorated with bas-relief of building, two seals, and stars. "CARNEGIE INSTITUTE DEDICATION PITTSBURGH APRIL - 11 - 1907" at bottom of pin.
